April 25, 2008 6:10 AM. Taken at the top. Compare the visibility through the Vog to some of the earlier photos. Remember, Vog consists of sulfer dioxide and other fine particals, mostly acidic. Fine stuff for breathing, and it tends to remain in the lungs. Fortunately the eruption that produced it was in an unusual spot, then it was carried to Oahu by unusual winds. It usually isn't a serious problem on Oahu.
