This switch box which sat by the Dispatcher was the control for the Civil Defense siren system. According to the labels, there were only 3 options, Air Raid Warning, Air Raid Alert and Tidal Wave Alert. Each option had it's own siren pattern: a 3 minute steady siren, 3 minute wavering siren etc. It appears that any alert went to the entire island. The system was tested regularly, and I remember quite a few Tidal Wave Alerts that were to tell everyone to move away from the beaches.
