I'm not sure exactly where this tunnel was located, there are tunnels all around the crater, some inside, some outside. But this entrance led into one the storage tunnels. Tunnels were used for all sorts of things, Some had microfilm and paper records, some had offices, and some stored supplies including medical supplies [rotated to ensure they were usable], rations, cots and other emergency supplies.
