The entrance to the Civil Defense Headquarter's tunnel. This tunnel is still in use by Civil Defense, although the entrance has been beefed up a bit. And it's not acutally a tunnel, although it feels like it inside. This area is the old Birkhimer Battery, which had been converted to office and storage. The Birkhimer Battery was apparently set in a pit and the central section roofed over for protection. Later the guns were moved from alongside the cetral section and out into what is now the parking lot, and the bun pits were also roofed over and became more office space.
